Cross Latest News
Please
pray for Quentin Smith,
son of members
Steve & Fran Smith.
Quentin was recently involved in a paragliding accident
in New Zealand and is in a very serious condition
in a Christchurch hospital. They ask for prayer
for all his family, friends and the medical staff
treating Quentin.
Southern Cross is
appointing a Catering
Manager and two Lodge Hosts
for the 2008 snow season. For more details on this
arrangement and for a whole lot more news and information,
see our February
2008 (131kb) Newsletter.
Jan
Coggins (see photo) has
accepted the position of 2008 snow season Catering
Manager. Jan
says "Albeit an unplanned and God-made-opportunity
to go back to dear Southern Cross this coming season,
it is a joy I am so looking forward to and I really
look forward to catching up with you all. For those
who have come into Southern Cross since I was there
last, I look forward to meeting new friends who
will become 'old' friends".
Maximum bed
numbers now 25.
Southern Cross recently accepted a NPWS offer to
increase our maximum bed numbers (including managers)
from 20 to 25. This is the culmination of many years
of on and off negotiations between club lodges and
commercial lodges with National Parks and Wildlife
Services. We especially thank the unpaid committee
of the SLOPES organisation (which represents all
Perisher/Smiggins/Guthega club lodges) for their
tireless work. Further details will be included
in our Annual Report which will be available early
May and discussed at our Thursday 29 May 2008 AGM
(see below).
A 15% discount
on 5½, 6½ and 7½ day mountain
passes is available
to our guests who book the 26/7 or 27/7/2008 week.
See prices at www.perisherblue.com.au/winter/prices/bonus.html
- special conditions
apply to lodge guests
- ask Brian Gaetjens for
details.
Our Annual
General Meeting will be on Thursday 29 May 2008
at St Paul's Chatswood -
please note change of date and venue
- further details will be posted here soon.
See
Perisher Blue Media Release 13/2/2008 for exciting
details of what's new in 2008 including a new
skier conveyor at Smiggin Holes
and snow
making all the way to Perisher Forester Quad Express
mid-station.
Hopefully in 2008,
Perisher lifts will be open till at least Monday
6 October and maybe longer.
