  • To encourage the enjoyment of God's good things through activities that the high country affords, such as bushwalking and cycling, along with the challenges of skiing & snowboarding.
  • To provide a venue & social environment within which we can experience a happy, caring relationship with others within the Lodge, & where the Holy Spirit may use us to be a blessing to one another.
  • To provide stimulus & encouragement for personal growth in Christian discipleship, by encouraging all our members and guests to use a clear Bible-based, systematic teaching program with appropriate discussion.
  • To provide facilities & produce an atmosphere, in which people may hear the gospel & be challenged to receive Jesus Christ as their own personal Saviour & Lord.
  • To encourage all involved with the Lodge to maintain a positive Christian lifestyle on the snow fields, so that others may be attracted to Christ.

Making and Confirming a Booking   go to Top

Bookings cannot be confirmed until at least a 50% deposit is received. You may fax, post or email your BOOKING FORM, or request information or a booking by phone. You may pay by Internet Funds Transfer (we shall advise you how to pay by Internet after your booking request is received), by cheque or credit card (but no credit card details by email please). A 2% discount applies to full prompt payment by Internet Transfer or cheque.

Subject to Preferential Booking System entitlements and payment of deposit, bookings are confirmed in order of receipt by the Booking Coordinator. Every effort is made to accommodate your first preference but this is not always possible - so please ensure that you include a second preference. If necessary, a ballot is conducted for equal priority bookings.

Rooms are allocated prior to your arrival at Southern Cross with consideration to the needs of the total group. Every effort is made to meet guest and family needs. However, in order to maximise occupancy, there may be occasions where we are unable to meet all requests. Room allocation confirmation is not available ahead of time, and our managers (Lodge Hosts or Catering Manager) will advise you of your room on arrival.

A confirmation letter or email will be sent to you once the Booking Coordinator can confirm your booking.
Except for short notice bookings, no other form of communication is recognised as confirmation of a booking.

Final Payment   go to Top
Your final payment is due one month prior to booking commencement, otherwise your booking may lapse.
Please return the slip at the bottom of your confirmation letter with your final remittance.

Cancellation

[ Please consider effecting Travel Insurance including Cancellation Insurance - various insurers may be located via the internet ]

2008 WINTER / SPRING BOOKING PRIORITIES – Full Details   go to Top

This information is on booking dates and priorities for the 2008 Winter / Spring snow season which may extend from 6 June to mid October 2008. Refer also to 2008 Winter / Spring Rate Schedule, and 2008 Booking Form & Booking Conditions and Completion Instructions.

Southern Cross Ski Chalet Bookings Opened Monday 25 February 2008**    go to Top

Booking requests are date stamped and processed in order of receipt with deposit, subject to the following conditions and priorities:

1) Booking requests received before 25 February were treated as though received on 25 February **.
2) Until 16 March priority applied to Preferential Booking System (PBS) participants, as set out further below in more detail.
3) For the period 22 June to 19 September, only 7 day Saturday to Saturday and 6 day Sunday to Saturday bookings can be initially confirmed.
If booking requests for the popular 4-20 July School Holiday period are particularly heavy, the directors may also decide to reduce the maximum booking period to 5 or 6 nights. Refer to the Rate Schedule for more details on booking period restrictions.
4) Every effort is made to accommodate first preferences but this is not always possible as our lease is for 25 beds (including managers). So please ensure that your booking request includes details of alternative preferences that will assist the Booking Coordinator in allocating you a suitable booking period. Your booking request will be confirmed (or otherwise) as soon as is practical. There may be some delays whilst the Booking Coordinator discusses options with members and guests whose first priority is over booked. If necessary, we conduct a ballot for equal priority bookings. Your deposit is not banked until the booking is confirmed.

Preferential Booking System (PBS) Entitlements and Priorities   go to Top
Note that PBS participant booking entitlements are suspended whilst any membership fees or levies are outstanding.
Also, a participant's entitlements can be used by his/her spouse, or by his/her immediate children aged under 21.
Unaccompanied children aged over age 21 would need to book as "Friends Using PBS Entitlements" (see below).

PBS Participant Initial Entitlements and Priorities   go to Top
PBS participants are entitled to initial preferential booking at member rates of 14 nights accommodation per PBS participation for the participant and accompanying guests. A family which has two Class 1 or three Class 2 PBS participations is entitled to initial preferential booking at member rates of 7 nights accommodation in respect of each parent and each child aged up to age 18.

  • PBS Class 1 Initial Preferential Priority booking requests received up to 16 March take priority over all other bookings.
All other booking requests are held until 17 March.
  • PBS Class 2 and other booking requests are then allocated and confirmed from 17 March in the following order ** :

PBS Class 2 Initial Preferential Booking Priority Entitlements   go to Top
PBS Class 2 initial preferential priority booking requests plus the immediate children (aged 18 and under) of families which have just one Class 1 PBS participation. [Under the PBS Rules, whilst these children rank with Class 2 participants, they are charged non-member guest rates.]

PBS Further Member Entitlements   go to Top
PBS participants are entitled to book further accommodation (in excess of initial entitlements) for themselves and accompanying guests. One person per participation per night is at member rates, with any remainder being at non-member guest rates.

Friends Using PBS Initial Entitlements   go to Top
PBS participants who have not used all their initial PBS entitlements may nominate friends to use their entitlements (unaccompanied by the participant). The rates for these "Friends Using PBS Entitlements" are mid-way between the member rates and the full non-member guest rates.

Non-member guest bookings   go to Top
Non-member guest booking requests are allocated after the above requests. Any requests for group bookings for 14 or more (would usually only be available in Low and Value periods and if no other bookings) are also considered by the directors from 24 March onwards.

Explanatory Note on Priorities   go to Top
** You can maximize the probability of getting the booking period you would like by getting your booking application in by 26 February or as soon afterwards as possible. For example, when the first PBS Class 2 bookings are processed from 19 March, they are processing in order of their receipt from 26 February.
