Summer
and Autumn Bookings -
escape to the Snowy Mountains this coming summer
or autumn
Southern
Cross is open fully catered each Summer and NSW
Easter/Autumn School Holidays.
The
school holiday rates
are the same as for both of the 2005 & 2006
Low Season Winter/Spring periods. It's a great
time to see the high country and marvel at God's
creation. Booking Summer or Easter does
not affect your Winter/Spring PBS member entitlements.
We invite you to take
part in the many recreational activities on offer
or just relax and drink in the beauty of the Australia’s
High Country.
There are many recreational
activities available for you to enjoy, such as:
 |

|
 |

|
 |

|
|
 |
 |

 |
horse riding |
|
Another exciting event
is the annual rodeo held on Boxing Day each year
in Jindabyne. This is a well organised event with
constant action and great fun for all the family.
On the Lakes Walk rest
a while and look out over the Sentinal and Watsons
Crags to see how far the 2003 fires extended and
the terrible damage caused in the Canyons below,
but still enjoy the undamaged beauty of the catchment
of Lake Albina as you proceed towards Muellers
Pass. This is a great day out - the walk is approximately
18km and well worth the effort. Notice and enjoy
the striking dichotomy of the fragile windswept
feldmark areas and the remains of star pickets
and wire fencing left from the days of grazing
in the high country.
The National
Parks and Wildlife Service offer visitors
a chance to explore and experience the natural
beauty of the Kosciuszko National Park. In school
holidays there are guided walks and talks and
the Visitors Centre at Jindabyne and the Education
Centre at Sawpit Creek are both well worth visits
with (or without) children.
The Snowy
Hydro Information & Education Centre just
on the Sydney side of Cooma is fascinating to
visit on the way to (or on the way home from)
the mountains. This state-of-the-art visitor facility
showcases the amazing story of the Snowy Mountains
Scheme from the early construction days, to the
role the Scheme plays today in the continuing
development and growth of Australia.
If all this sounds too
busy, you may wish to plan a more relaxing day.
Pack a picnic and lunch
by a tranquil stream, take some photos, visit
a historic village, gallery or explore Jindabyne
including the many great coffee shops.
See www.snowymountains.com.au
for other ideas on things to do.
Our staff will care for
you and help in all arrangements to make your
Snowy holiday very memorable.
