The 2008 Snow Season was a great season - see Winter / Spring News -
includes details of / report on our new Management and Ministry Structure for the snow seasons

We continue to be excited by the opportunities that Southern Cross offers for ministry and recreation within Kosciuszko National Park. The term recreation is particularly apt as we are experiencing a little of what awaits us as Christians when we are recreated with our Lord. The tangible friendship, hospitality, care and love that members and guests enjoy is why the lodge is there and what we have now shared over 45 years.

Please continue to pray for Quentin Smith, son of lodge members Steve & Fran Smith. Quentin was seriously injured in a paragliding accident in NZ in April 2008 and is now confined to a wheelchair. His recovery otherwise has been very quick. He has now managed to sell his previous home and has moved into a more suitable place. Although there are still some modifications required he and his wife are happily settling in and Quentin has returned to work, part-time for the present, and they are adjusting well to their "new" life.

Following the elections at our 29 May 2008 AGM, the Southern Cross directors are now Graham Morrison (chairman), Paul Campbell-Allen, Brian Gaetjens, Andrew Green, Jenny Morrison, Faith Oxley and Fran Smith. Presentations were made to Keith Hansard and Tom Treseder who have been made life members.

Southern Cross recently accepted a NPWS offer to increase our maximum bed numbers (including managers) from 20 to 25. This is the culmination of many years of on and off negotiations between club lodges and commercial lodges with National Parks and Wildlife Services. We especially thank the unpaid committee of the SLOPES organisation (which represents all Perisher/Smiggins/Guthega club lodges) for their tireless work.
For further details, see see our May 2008 Newsletter (128kb).

In 2007, the Rev Lloyd Bennett was officially appointed by your directors as our honorary chaplain.

Congratulations to the following four couples. Our prayers are with them all.
